01Welcome to EarnItKid

This Agreement is between you and EarnItKid, Inc. (“EarnItKid,” “we,” or “us”). By creating an account, purchasing our hardware, or installing our mobile app, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

EarnItKid provides a family-management system that includes the Family Hub touchscreen, the Access Point, the SmartPlug, and the EarnItKid mobile app (together, the “Service”). The Service is designed for parents and guardians to set household rules that turn completed chores into earned screen time.

Please read carefully.These Terms include an arbitration clause and a class-action waiver (Section 9) that affect your legal rights.

02Eligibility

To create an EarnItKid parent account, you must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. Kids may use a child profile on the Family Hub or app only under a parent or guardian account.

You must reside in a country where EarnItKid is available.
You must have a working email address and a compatible mobile device for the parent app.
You agree to provide accurate information and keep it current.

03Your account

You are responsible for everything that happens on your account, including chores you approve, rules you set, and any actions taken from devices linked to your household. Keep your password confidential and notify us at support@earnitkid.com right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

Family members

The parent account holder is the primary administrator. You may add a co-parent with equal rights, and individual child profiles with limited permissions. Adding a co-parent grants them full access to family settings.

04Children & family use

EarnItKid is intentionally designed for households with children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle child data under COPPA and similar laws.

Parents control all child profiles and may delete them at any time.
Child profiles cannot make purchases, change rules, or modify earned-time balances.
Earned screen-time is not money or a financial instrument — it has no cash value and cannot be transferred outside the system.

05Purchases & subscriptions

Hardware

When you buy hardware (Family Hub, Access Point, SmartPlug), you own that device. Shipping, taxes, and any applicable duties are calculated at checkout. We may cancel or refund orders if pricing errors occur.

Subscription

The Starter Kit includes one month of free access to the parent app subscription. After the free period, the subscription auto-renews at the rate shown on the product page unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal.

Refunds

Hardware purchased directly from EarnItKid may be returned within 30 days for a full refund in original condition. App subscriptions are non-refundable for partial periods, but you may cancel at any time and retain access through the end of your billing cycle.

06License & restrictions

EarnItKid grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial family use. You may not:

Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from any EarnItKid device or app.
Resell access to the Service or use the Service for any commercial child-care operation without a separate license.
Use the Service to harass, surveil, or harm any person, including the children in your household, beyond reasonable parental supervision.
Bypass safety features or attempt to override parental controls.

07Your content

You retain ownership of chores, rules, reward names, photos, and messages you add to the Service. You grant EarnItKid a limited license to store and display that content as needed to operate the Service for your household.

Reviews you submit on our website may be displayed publicly. By posting a review, you grant us a license to display it with your first name, last initial, and any details you provided.

08Warranty & returns

EarnItKid hardware is covered by a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, unauthorized modifications, or normal wear and tear. To file a warranty claim, contact support@earnitkid.com with your order number.

30-day no-questions-asked returns.If EarnItKid isn’t working for your family, return any hardware within 30 days for a full refund.

09Liability limits

The Service is provided “as is.” EarnItKid does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly enforce rules in every situation. Network outages, device failures, or workarounds by tech-savvy children are possible.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, EarnItKid’s total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

You agree to resolve disputes through binding arbitration on an individual basis. Class actions and jury trials are waived. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing legal@earnitkid.com within 30 days of accepting these Terms.

10Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by canceling your subscription and deleting your account from the parent app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including misuse of the Service or unpaid subscription fees.

11Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days before they take effect, by email and in the parent app. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

01Our approach to privacy

EarnItKid was built for families. We take privacy seriously — particularly for kids. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our mobile app, and our hardware (the Family Hub, Access Point, and SmartPlug).

Short version.We collect only what we need to run the Service. We never sell your data. Kids’ data is held to a stricter standard under COPPA and GDPR-K.

02What we collect

From parents

Account info: name, email, password (hashed).
Billing info: card or payment-token details (processed by Stripe — we never store full card numbers).
Device info: model, OS version, app version, time zone.
Household configuration: chores you create, rules you set, devices you link.

From kids (via parent accounts)

First name or nickname, age range (not full birthdate), profile color/avatar.
Chore completion logs and earned-time history.

Automatic

Diagnostic and crash data, anonymized usage metrics.
IP address for security and abuse prevention.

03How we use data

We use your data only to:

Operate the Service — show chores, sync earned time across devices, deliver notifications.
Process payments and fulfill hardware orders.
Respond to support requests and improve product quality.
Send service-related emails (receipts, security alerts). You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.

04Children’s privacy

EarnItKid is designed to be used by families with kids under 13 in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws.

Child profiles are created only by a verified parent.
We collect the minimum data needed to make the Service work for that child.
Children cannot post public content, message other users, or make purchases.
Parents can review, edit, or delete a child’s profile and data at any time from the parent app.

We do not show ads to children.The EarnItKid app is ad-free in all child-facing surfaces.

We share data only with service providers we need to deliver the Service:

Stripe for payment processing.
AWS for secure cloud hosting in the United States.
Twilio / SendGrid for transactional messaging.
Crashlytics for crash reports (anonymized).

Each provider is contractually required to handle data only for the specific purpose we engaged them. We do not sell or rent personal data to advertisers. We may disclose data if legally required (e.g., subpoena) and will notify you unless prohibited.

06Security

We use industry-standard security: HTTPS for all communications, AES-256 encryption for data at rest, hashed and salted passwords, and limited internal access on a need-to-know basis. We perform regular audits and run a vulnerability disclosure program.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever suffer a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovery.

07Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access a copy of the data we hold about you and your kids.
Correct inaccurate data.
Delete your account and associated data.
Export your data in a portable format (JSON or CSV).
Opt out of any non-essential data processing.
File a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Email privacy@earnitkid.com to exercise any of these rights — we’ll respond within 30 days.

08Data retention

We keep your data as long as your account is active. After you delete your account, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain it for legal reasons (e.g., tax records for 7 years). Anonymized usage data may be kept indefinitely for product improvement.

09International transfers

EarnItKid is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission for transfers from the EU/UK.

10Cookies

Our website uses a small number of cookies:

Essential — login session, cart contents.
Analytics — anonymized page-view counts (you can decline).

We do not use advertising cookies. Manage your preferences in your browser or via the cookie banner shown on first visit.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our Service evolves. Material changes will be announced 30 days before they take effect, by email and in the parent app. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
